Cuyahoga County Government

So the dust seems to have settled on the FBI raid.  What a suprise, a one party county government is corrupt?  There is no accountability.  Of course they are skimming for themselves, that's why they wanted the job! 
 
I have studied the charges.  It seems that the selfless civil servants in the center of the firestorm (Dimora, Russo, Kelly), all live pretty well on their government salaries.  None of them makes terribly more than I do, but I cannot seem to afford the lifestyles (and real estate!) they have.  I am sure it was all acquired (and renovated/maintained) legally.
 
This speaks to the type of people who want to be in government.  Why in the world would anyone want to work in the sewer that is Cuyahoga County Government?  Any real, honest reformer would be cut to pieces.  I wish Debbie Sutherland luck.  She will be like a lamb charging into the wolves' den if she is un-lucky enough to be elected.
 
It is great to see that when the county is losing population faster than any area other than New Orleans (and they had Katrina), our elected leaders are scamming us to their own enrichment.  Unfortunately, I have been around some of the most prominent Cuyahoga Democrats in the past.  I have yet to encounter one that did not make me want to put my wallet in my front pocket for safe keeping.

I see that the Messiah stopped by Baldwin Wallace the other day!  I was sure to put my bible and shotgun down to reach around and put my wallet in my front pocket to keep it safe. 

I found it interesting that the Dalibama was calling his opponents "ignorant", for making fun of his foolish assertion that all we need to do is inflate our tires to the recommended psi and then we do not have to drill for any more oil.  I guess I am wondering if insulting your opponents for ridiculing an obvious lie you told is the "Change We Can Believe In."

I am off to the garage as we speak.  35 psi is better than 3.5 a gallon!

Cleveland Hopkins Airport

I returned from yet another West Coast trip on Friday, April 25th from another city that people are running to, unlike Cleveland, where everyone is running away.  I stepped out of the baggage claim to head to the parking lot shuttle and what did I see?  The City of Cleveland was repairing the potholes in the bus lane for arriving flights on Friday afternoon!!!!!!!
 
This is so typical of the city administration (it does not matter who the mayor is).  You need to do some work on the arriving flight lanes at the airport, so you work on them at the busiest time of the week for arriving flights.  The buses were backed up to the light, all the way around the curve.  The guy standing next to me and I were just flabbergasted.

National Car Rental

Last May, I was driving a rented Dodge Durango in MN when a college kid crashed into the back of my car.  I was not cited by the Police, and felt bad for the kid because he was really upset.  (He was afraid he hurt me since his car was totaled).  I spent 6 HOURS on the phone with National over the next few days, where the proceeded to treat me like the accident was my fault and not a single person asked me if I was OK.
 
6 days ago I received a letter from National revoking my rental privileges and demanding payment for the accident.  They lost all of the information I sent them, and most certainly mis-posted the check from the other guy's insurance company.  So, even though I am an Executive Elite renter for at least (5) years I had to spend another (2) hours on the phone with National and several insurance companies to run down  all of the information that National lost.  Eventually, National may graciously allow me to purchase their services again.
 
Continental Airlines would never treat a customer that way.

"Raising Awareness"

I have a theory about people who want to "raise awareness."  My theory is that they are lazy, cheap jerks who instead of spending their time or money to help a cause, just wear a ribbon, pendant, jersey, etc. to make themselves feel good.
 
Kind of sounds like Liberalism to me.  Making meaningless gestures that help no one to make yourself feel good.   Add "Spending someone else's money" in front of "making" and "ignore the consequences of your actions" after "good" and you capture today's liberalism (with a healty dash of America-hatred thrown in).

Airport Construction

I have to travel all over the world for work.  Without fail, it seems that every Airport in the US is undergoing construction.  Quite frequently, it does not seem to be to expand capacity or security.  It seems to just be a method of spending $.  Did the feds raise our airline taxes too much after 9/11 (OF COURSE) and are they trying to spend the money any way they can?
 
Visit Orlando (Continental terminal), Nashville or various other airports.  What is the point of the construction?
