Cleveland Hopkins Airport

I returned from yet another West Coast trip on Friday, April 25th from another city that people are running to, unlike Cleveland, where everyone is running away.  I stepped out of the baggage claim to head to the parking lot shuttle and what did I see?  The City of Cleveland was repairing the potholes in the bus lane for arriving flights on Friday afternoon!!!!!!!

This is so typical of the city administration (it does not matter who the mayor is).  You need to do some work on the arriving flight lanes at the airport, so you work on them at the busiest time of the week for arriving flights.  The buses were backed up to the light, all the way around the curve.  The guy standing next to me and I were just flabbergasted.

Nice work Mayor Jackson.

National Car Rental

Last May, I was driving a rented Dodge Durango in MN when a college kid crashed into the back of my car.  I was not cited by the Police, and felt bad for the kid because he was really upset.  (He was afraid he hurt me since his car was totaled).  I spent 6 HOURS on the phone with National over the next few days, where the proceeded to treat me like the accident was my fault and not a single person asked me if I was OK.

6 days ago I received a letter from National revoking my rental privileges and demanding payment for the accident.  They lost all of the information I sent them, and most certainly mis-posted the check from the other guy's insurance company.  So, even though I am an Executive Elite renter for at least (5) years I had to spend another (2) hours on the phone with National and several insurance companies to run down  all of the information that National lost.  Eventually, National may graciously allow me to purchase their services again.

Continental Airlines would never treat a customer that way.

"Raising Awareness"

I have a theory about people who want to "raise awareness."  My theory is that they are lazy, cheap jerks who instead of spending their time or money to help a cause, just wear a ribbon, pendant, jersey, etc. to make themselves feel good.

Kind of sounds like Liberalism to me.  Making meaningless gestures that help no one to make yourself feel good.   Add "Spending someone else's money" in front of "making" and "ignore the consequences of your actions" after "good" and you capture today's liberalism (with a healty dash of America-hatred thrown in).

Airport Construction

I have to travel all over the world for work.  Without fail, it seems that every Airport in the US is undergoing construction.  Quite frequently, it does not seem to be to expand capacity or security.  It seems to just be a method of spending $.  Did the feds raise our airline taxes too much after 9/11 (OF COURSE) and are they trying to spend the money any way they can?

Visit Orlando (Continental terminal), Nashville or various other airports.  What is the point of the construction?

Reverend Wright says his congregation should skip "Middleclassness"

Apparently, he practices what he preaches.

He seems to have jumped straight into the top 1%!

An addition to the oath from BuckeyeJohn

"I promise to vote for any effort to "Regionalize" Cuyahoga County so that all the money and sacrifice that the people of the "Evil" suburbs have used to keep their schools and suburbs at high levels are appropriately sucked back into that hopeless pit called Cleveland and its pathetic school system

-- Good one John!

About that Oath of Allegiance to the Democratic Party in Cuyahoga County

Since the fools in Cuyahoga County Government are threatening to prosecute Rush for "Operation Chaos", I thought it would be helpful to post the Cuyahoga County Democratic Party Oath of Allegiance (at least as I see it)

  • I promise to ignore the mind-numbing incompetence of local Democratic leaders and willing submit to any and all tax increases.
  • I promise to knod my head in agreement when a county official tells the citizens of Cuyahoga County about a "deal" with a private company that forces the county to pay for all construction and subsequent maintenance costs of a new building and allows the private company to keep all revenue the facility generates is a "good deal."
  • I promise to agree that the more unions we have, the better.
  • I promise to remain in Cuyahoga County until all of the jobs are gone.
  • I promise to support our public schools and demand more money, no matter how bad the schools get (as long as my kids go to private schools)
  • I promise to blame the successful suburbs for all of the woes of the City of Cleveland.
  • I promise to keep the downtown waterfront un-developed.
  • I promise to continue to scheme to bring casinos to Cleveland (look at the prosperity they have brought to Detroit!)
  • I promise to ignore the increasing crime in Cleveland or blame it on something other than Mayor Jackson.
  • I promise to continue to vote for the dumbest person in Congress, Dennis Kucinich.
